Tourism and Culture
The Cultural Arts Grant Program within the Department of Tourism and Culture serves as an invaluable resource for the Miami Beach community and beyond. Working closely with the Cultural Arts Council, the advisory board which was founded in 1997, the Cultural Arts Grant Program sustains, develops, and supports the arts in Miami Beach for the enjoyment, education, enrichment, and benefit of residents, and visitors. The Cultural Arts Grant Program helps to supports thousands of performances, exhibits, and other cultural activities in Miami Beach.
Since the program’s inception in 1998, the City of Miami Beach Mayor and Commission and the Cultural Arts Council have awarded approximately $18 million in grant funds to over 100 nonprofit arts groups through an annual, competitive cultural grants program. The grant program is managed by professional staff from the City of Miami Beach’s Department of Tourism and Culture, division of Cultural Affairs. The Cultural Arts Grant Program helps to supports thousands of performances, exhibits, and other cultural activities in Miami Beach. The Cultural Arts Grant Program awards nearly $1M each year to nonprofit arts organizations to produce and program arts and cultural activities throughout Miami Beach. The grant program support Miami Beach's fifteen (15) Cultural Anchor Institutions through the Cultural Anchors Grant and fund innovative arts initiatives that engage residents and visitors through a competitive grant program for Cultural Presenters through the Cultural Presenters Grant.
The goal of the Economic Development Department is to establish and grow the city’s business community by promoting the city’s image and assets, supporting businesses, encouraging real estate development, and creating a diverse economy for this dynamic and resilient global community.
The Miami Beach Restaurant Reimbursement Grant Program was established and approved by the City of Miami Beach Mayor and Commission on October 28, 2020 with an allocation of $60,000 to initiate the Program. The grant is managed by professional staff from the City of Miami Beach's Economic Development Department.
Small Business Grant
The City of Miami Beach Small Business Grant Program will provide participating small businesses up to $20,000 in relief from the economic distress caused by COVID-19. Pursuant to the CARES Act, the Community Development Block Grant-Corona Virus (CDBG-CV) program funding is intended to “avoid job loss caused by business closures related to social distancing, by providing short-term working capital assistance to small businesses, to enable retention of jobs held by low- and moderate-income persons.”
